Henry Reuss of Plauen served as Grand Master of the Teutonic Order during one of its most desperate stretches — the drawn-out collapse following the Second Peace of Toruń in 1466, which stripped the Order of West Prussia and forced it to acknowledge Polish suzerainty over the remaining territory. This schilling was struck in the narrow window between that humiliation and Henry's forced resignation in 1470, when the Order's own knights removed him for mismanagement of the crisis. Coinage from his administration is scarce precisely because the Order's financial and territorial position had already been gutted before he took office.
