附加信息

Ferdinand of Bavaria held the bishopric of Münster from 1612 until his death in 1650, simultaneously controlling Cologne, Liège, Hildesheim, and Paderborn — an accumulation of ecclesiastical territories that made him one of the most powerful princes in the Empire. This schilling falls squarely within the Thirty Years' War, during which Münster became critically significant: the Peace of Westphalia was negotiated and signed there in 1648, ending the conflict after three decades of devastation across the German lands.

Wartime coinage from Münster in this period is frequently encountered with irregular flans due to disrupted silver supplies.
