正面描述 Full-length figure of St. Christopher depicted wading through water, rendered in late Gothic style, bearing the Christ Child on his shoulders; the Child holds an imperial orb in his left hand. St. Christopher is shown leaning on a large staff or uprooted tree trunk, with flowing drapery and water waves indicated around his feet. The circular legend SANCTVS CRISTOFERVS runs along the inner border within a beaded circle, the lettering executed in late medieval uncial characters.

附加信息

Christopher I ruled Baden at a moment when the southwestern German mints were still navigating the fractured coinage agreements that followed the Reichsmünzordnung attempts of the late 15th century. His reign ended with his death in 1527, but this Schilling issue from 1504–1509 falls within his consolidation of Baden-Baden territory after the margraviate had been partitioned and partially reunified across the preceding generation. The MB#20 reference places it within a small documented series; surviving examples in any condition are infrequently encountered at auction.
