Obverse description A crowned shield bearing a plain cross quartering the escutcheon, set within a beaded or rope inner circle. A six-pointed star or rosette ornament appears above the shield in the field. The entire device is encircled by a Gothic or uncial Latin legend running along the coin's periphery. The style is characteristic of late medieval Livonian hammered coinage, with the shield rendered in low relief against a flat field.
