| Reverse description | The reverse displays a boldly struck Imperial double-headed eagle with wings spread, each head crowned individually and surmounted by a cross above the central shield on the breast. The eagle's plumage is rendered in flowing, stylised lines typical of early seventeenth-century German hammered coinage. A small orb or breast shield is visible at the centre of the eagle's body. The surrounding Latin legend, contained within a beaded border, proclaims the titles of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II. The flan shows characteristic irregularities and weakness at the edges due to the hammered striking technique. |
