| 正面描述 | Within a raised inner circle, the city arms of Stralsund — a stylized gateway or tower device — occupy the central field. The date 1538 is incorporated into the surrounding legend, which reads MONETA.NOVA.SVND(E), identifying this as a new coinage of Stralsund. The legend is rendered in Gothic-influenced Latin lettering characteristic of early sixteenth-century German municipal issues. The overall style is consistent with hammered silver coinage of the period. |

Stralsund's civic coinage in the 1530s was produced under conditions of considerable political strain — the city had formally adopted Lutheranism in 1525 following prolonged conflict between the reform movement and the Catholic clergy, and its relationship with the Hanseatic League was increasingly fraught as Baltic trade networks began their long contraction. Municipal silver issues of this period were as much assertions of civic autonomy as they were practical currency.
