The castle motif is boldly struck in high relief with flanking towers and an arched entrance gate. A beaded inner circle frames the central device. The circumferential legend MONETA LVNEBVRG runs in Gothic uncial script around the periphery, separated from the inner field by a beaded border. The flan is irregular and slightly cupped, characteristic of hammered medieval coinage.
