| Description du revers | Central circular field containing a finely rendered Nativity scene in the Baroque style: the Virgin Mary kneels at left attending the Christ Child lying in a manger, accompanied by Joseph standing at right and flanked by an ox and an ass beneath a stable roof. Two shepherds approach from the left, one carrying a crook, while a radiant light descends from clouds above in which angels appear. The central scene is enclosed within a raised circular border. The circumferential legend, rendered in Gothic blackletter script, reads UND DAS WORT IST FLEISCH WORDEN JOH : AM • 1, a quotation from the Gospel of John (1:14) referencing the Incarnation and thematically connecting the Nativity image to the theological inscription. |
