| Obverse description | Bust of Emperor Maximilian I facing left, crowned with an ornate imperial crown and clad in full plate armour, his right hand raising a sceptre surmounted by a fleur-de-lis finial. The effigy is rendered in high relief in a bold, late-Gothic sculptural style characteristic of the Hall mint under Burkhart. The figure is set against a plain, slightly concave field. A double-beaded inner border frames the portrait, within which the circular Latin legend reads: +MAXIMILIANVS DEI GRA ROMANOR REX SEMPER AVGVSTVS, interrupted by ornamental rosette stops. |
