正面铭文 รศ ๑๒๗
(Translation: RS127)
背面描述 Central round hole encircled by a beaded inner ring, around which a stylized serpent or naga is depicted in raised relief, its sinuous body coiling around the perforation with its head rising prominently at the top. Thai script legend arranged around the field reads 'สยามรัฐ' (State of Siam) to the left and right, with '๑ สตางค์' (1 Satang) completing the inscription. A decorative conch shell motif appears at the bottom of the field. The design reflects the traditional iconography of the Siamese royal court under King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), rendered with fine engraving and deep relief.

附加信息

The 1908 Siamese gold satang issues were produced in the final years of Chulalongkorn's reign, a period when Siam was under sustained pressure from British and French colonial expansion on both flanks. Chulalongkorn's modernization program — which included overhauling the currency system along European lines — was partly a deliberate strategy to present Siam as a sovereign, administratively capable state, reducing the colonial powers' pretext for intervention.

The Royal Siamese Mint had only been established in 1860, replacing the centuries-old bullet coin tradition. Gold satang pieces from 1908 were struck in very limited quantities and saw negligible circulation.
