Flanking the composition on both sides are Arabic legends recording the mint name (Kashgar) and the AH date 1315, reflecting the bilingual Sino-Arabic administrative convention of Sinkiang Province. The overall design is densely inscribed and fills the field to the beaded inner border, with no portraiture. The execution is characteristic of the somewhat provincial engraving style associated with the Kashgar Mint. |
