Central field bears the national emblem of Muscat and Oman: a khanjar (curved dagger) in its sheath superimposed upon two crossed swords, the points directed downward. The emblem is rendered in fine relief against a plain field. A circular Arabic legend surrounds the central device, reading the name and title of the ruling sultan. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the inner rim. |

The reverse displays the Arabic numeral '١' (1) prominently in the upper centre of the field, with the Hijri date '١٣٧٨' (1378) in large Eastern Arabic numerals occupying the lower centre. Flanking the central numerals on either side are two smaller renditions of the national emblem — the khanjar over crossed swords — positioned at the mid-field left and right. A circular Arabic legend runs along the upper and lower periphery, separated by the flanking emblems, reading the denomination and sultanate name. The design is framed by a continuous beaded border. |
