| Opis awersu | Oval gold flan with a uniformly hammered, horizontally striated field across the entire surface. In the upper portion of the obverse, a rectangular cartouche in relief contains the denomination inscription 壱両 (Ichi Ryō) in bold kaisho (regular script) Chinese characters. At the top of the flan, a decorative foliate paulownia-flower stamp (kiri) is applied in relief above the cartouche. In the lower central area, a larger rectangular seal bears the cursive (sōsho) signature of the Kinza assay master Goto Mitsutsugi (光次), rendered in an elaborate, interlocking calligraphic style, surmounted and flanked by additional kiri floral ornaments, imparting a refined ceremonial character to the design. |
