| Obverse description | Central field bears the crowned royal arms of Scotland — a shield charged with the lion rampant within a double tressure flory-counterflory — surmounted by an arched and jewelled crown with fleur-de-lis finials. The shield is flanked on either side by a thistle plant, the national emblem of Scotland, rendered in relief. The entire central device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the circumferential Latin legend in raised letters occupying the broad outer margin between the inner and outer borders. |
