The arms are flanked on either side by a thistle plant, the national emblem of Scotland, positioned in the field between the shield and the encircling beaded border. A Latin legend in capital letters runs continuously around the periphery, separated from the inner field by a beaded inner circle, invoking the joint authority of Mary and Henry as sovereigns of Scotland. |

The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with a continuous Latin legend running around the periphery invoking Psalm 68:1. |
