| Beschrijving voorzijde | King Edward IV is depicted standing full-length within the hull of a ship, facing front, crowned and robed in royal regalia, holding a sword erect in his right hand and a quartered shield of England and France in his left. The ship's hull is rendered with characteristic radiating strakes, with a rose visible at the bow. The design is executed in the bold, linear style typical of late medieval English hammered gold coinage. A continuous legend in Gothic uncial lettering runs within a beaded border around the periphery of the flan, with trefoil stops separating the words. |
