背面描述 At center, the arms of Portuguese India are depicted: a divided shield showing the Portuguese quinas to the left and, to the right, a robed female figure (allegorical representation of India) holding a shield, the base of the escutcheon charged with three wavy bars representing the sea. The legend ESTADO DA INDIA arcs around the upper periphery in bold raised letters, and the denomination 1 rupia appears in the lower field in smaller italic script. The word PROVA (proof/trial) is incused in the left field, identifying this piece as an official pattern strike.

附加信息

Portuguese India's transition from monarchical to republican coinage was administratively tangled for decades after the 1910 revolution. This 1935 Lisboa pattern was struck as part of ongoing efforts to modernize the colonial coinage system, but the designs tested that year were never adopted for circulation — Portuguese India continued issuing coins under older authorizations while Lisbon debated standards. Pattern issues from Casa da Moeda for the colonial territories are consistently underrepresented in specialist literature, and the Gomes reference remains the primary source for distinguishing the handful of known die trials from this series.
