Obverse description The Indian State Emblem — the Lion Capital of Ashoka — occupies the central field, depicting three lions passant on an abacus adorned with a Dharma Chakra flanked by a horse and a bull in relief. Immediately below the capital, the national motto सत्यमेव जयते (Satyameva Jayate) is inscribed in Devanagari script. The denomination numeral '1' appears in the lower field, flanked by the bilingual legends भारत to the left and INDIA to the right along the upper periphery, with रुपया to the left and RUPEE to the right along the lower periphery.
