Obverse description Bare-headed draped bust of King William IV facing right, engraved in high relief with finely detailed hair, as designed by William Wyon. The legend is divided around the effigy, reading WILLIAM to the left and IIII, KING. to the right, with a notable comma following IIII. The portrait is rendered in a neoclassical style characteristic of Royal Mint workmanship of the period, with a fine inner beaded border and an outer milled border encircling the field.
