Reverse description The reverse displays the distinctive royal emblem of Awadh: a parasol (chatri) surmounting a crown at centre, flanked symmetrically by two fish-tailed mermaids (the traditional Awadhi fish symbol) each bearing a flag or standard. Crossed swords appear beneath the crown, completing the heraldic composition. A Persian-script marginal legend encircles the design, recording the mint name Lucknow (Lakhnau) and the regnal year, within a beaded or plain border. The overall design reflects the courtly artistic vocabulary of the Nawabi court of Awadh.
