| Obverse description | Mughal-style flan bearing bold Arabic legends in the field, struck in the name of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II (r. 1761–1806). The central field displays the royal julus formula with the regnal year — here year 41 of Shah Alam II's reign — rendered in bold Naskh script. A surrounding marginal legend occupies the border, with additional inscriptions filling the upper and lower registers of the flan. The coin was struck under the authority of Vikramajit Mahendra, ruler of Orchha (r. 1796–1817), as a feudatory issue acknowledging Mughal suzerainty. The hammered flan exhibits characteristic irregular edges and a high-relief strike typical of late Mughal provincial coinage. |
