| Additional information |
Orchha's rupees of this period were struck under Vikramajit Mahendra during a reign defined by the state's complicated tributary relationship with the Maratha Confederacy, whose influence over central Indian princely states peaked in the decades following Panipat in 1761. The Bundela rulers of Orchha had long maintained a precarious independence by playing regional powers against one another — Mughals earlier, Marathas now.
C#82 is sparsely documented, and surviving examples are infrequently encountered in trade.
