Obverse description The obverse features a multi-line Persian-script legend in the field, arranged in horizontal bands across the flan in the Mughal calligraphic tradition. The legend reads 'ba-zaman-i-mubarak kwin victoria mallikah mu'azzamah inglistan-o-hindustan', acknowledging Queen Victoria as the sovereign of Great Britain and India. A swastika mint mark, an auspicious symbol associated with the Jodhpur (Marwar) state mint, appears within the field. The overall design follows the broad, flat hammered-style format typical of Marwar rupees of this period, with the inscription filling the entire coin face.
