Struck as a pattern to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations, this piece was never approved for general circulation — Pakistan's commemorative program for the jubilee ultimately proceeded with a different issue. Pattern pieces from Pakistan's mint in this period were produced in extremely small numbers, primarily for archive purposes and official presentation sets.
