Taimur Shah relocated the Afghan capital from Kandahar to Kabul in 1776, but Multan — deep in the Punjab — remained a strategically critical revenue center under Durrani administration. Its mint operated under persistent pressure from Sikh confederacy forces expanding eastward through the region during precisely this decade, and Durrani control over Multan would collapse entirely by 1818. Coins from this mint and this reign therefore represent a contracting empire still issuing currency at its fringes.
