Popis líce Central field features the Kalimah Tayyibah (Islamic declaration of faith) inscribed within a square frame: 'La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad Rasool Allah' (There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah), accompanied by the regnal Hijri year 1043. The four marginal panels surrounding the central square bear the names and honorific attributes of the Four Rightly-Guided Caliphs: Abu Bakr (as-Siddiq), Umar (al-Adl), Uthman (Dhul-Nurayn), and Ali (Ilm), rendered in fluid Naskh calligraphy characteristic of Mughal silver coinage. The overall design follows the standard Mughal rupee format established under Shah Jahan, with the religious legend serving as the primary decorative and devotional element.

Další informace

Shah Jahan's Ujjain mint operated within a tightly regulated imperial system that standardized the rupee's weight and fineness across dozens of provincial mints — a monetary uniformity the Mughals enforced with unusual rigor. Ujjain itself was an ancient Hindu sacred city, and its inclusion in the Mughal minting network reflected the empire's administrative reach into the Deccan approaches during a period of relative consolidation before Aurangzeb's wars fractured the southern frontier.

The regnal year range spans Shah Jahan's imprisonment by Aurangzeb in 1658, meaning late-dated examples from this mint were struck under a ruler who had already deposed his father.
