Obverse description Hammered silver flan bearing the royal legend in bold Nasta'liq calligraphic script arranged across the field in three horizontal registers, divided by raised linear borders. The central band prominently displays the name and title of the emperor Shah Jahan II, with the honorific epithet Rafi' ud-Daula inscribed in the upper register. The lower register carries additional elements of the imperial titulature. The deeply struck Arabic script fills the field with characteristic Mughal calligraphic elegance, with the letters showing high relief against a granular ground.
