| Obverse description | Hammered silver flan bearing bold Arabic calligraphic legend arranged in two lines across the central field, reading the royal epithet and title of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II. The inscription is framed by a dotted border with floral or foliate ornamental devices visible at the periphery, characteristic of late Mughal and Maratha-issued rupees struck in his name. The script is rendered in a cursive Naskh style typical of 18th-century Indian mint production. The flan shows slight irregularity consistent with hand-hammered manufacture, with the legend partially weak at the edges due to uneven striking. |
