Shah Alam II's reign was defined less by imperial authority than by its absence — after the disaster at Panipat in 1761 and his subsequent decades under Maratha and later British protection, his coinage was issued across dozens of mints that operated with near-total autonomy. Kora, a mint in present-day Uttar Pradesh, fell under shifting regional control throughout his long reign, and pieces struck there reflect that instability in their often irregular fabric.
KM#650 covers a broad span of regnal years, making precise dating of individual specimens difficult without clear date numerals.
