Obverse description The entire field is occupied by a three-line Persian legend in elegant Naskh script, divided by two horizontal ruled lines. The uppermost line bears the Hijri regnal date 1215 above the opening phrase of the royal titulature. Decorative floral and pellet ornaments fill the spaces between and beside the inscription bands. The legend reads 'Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Shah Alam,' proclaiming the auspicious coinage of the victorious Emperor Shah Alam II. A fine toothed border encircles the entire design.

Reverse description The reverse field bears a three-line Persian legend in Naskh script, likewise divided by horizontal ruled lines, recording the mint name and regnal year of issue. The legend reads 'Zarb Surat Sanat 46 Julus Maimanat Manus,' indicating that the coin was struck at the Surat mint in the 46th auspicious year of the emperor's reign. Decorative floral rosettes and a prominent six-pointed star ornament punctuate the field between the inscription lines. Pellet embellishments are scattered throughout the design. A toothed border identical to that of the obverse frames the composition.
