| Opmerkingen |
The United Services Officers' Club in Rangoon issued these rupee tokens during the post-liberation period when British military and civil administration was being reconstituted after Japanese occupation. Small private club scrip of this kind filled a practical gap — NAAFI supply chains were irregular, and officers' messes often handled their own internal credit rather than deal in the mixed currency environment that existed in Burma between 1945 and 1948, when the rupee was still legal tender before Burmese independence and the eventual introduction of the kyat.
Survivors are uncommon. Club scrip was disposable by nature and rarely left the premises intentionally.
