The "Queen Mother" designation here refers to the commemorative series issued across numerous Commonwealth and associated territories marking the 95th birthday of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in 1995. The Central Bank of Seychelles participated in what was effectively a coordinated multi-issuer release — the same occasion prompted nearly identical programs from dozens of small nations, many with negligible ties to the British Crown.
Seychelles became a republic in 1976, severing formal constitutional links to the monarchy.
