| Obverse description | Four-line Bengali inscription arranged in a square central field occupying most of the flan, reading a devotional epithet invoking Shiva. The legend is executed in bold, angular Bengali script characteristic of sixteenth-century Koch coinage. The central text panel is surrounded by a prominent raised border of evenly spaced globules or pellets encircling the entire coin. The flat field between the inscription panel and the pellet border is largely plain. The overall style is typical of the hammered silver rupees of the Koch kingdom, with the inscription serving as the sole design element. |
