Obverse description Draped bust of Queen Victoria facing left, as engraved by William Wyon for the East India Company coinage. The legend is divided around the effigy. Superimposed over the bust is an approximately 15mm oval or circular countermark applied by the Qu'aiti Sultanate, bearing Arabic inscriptions reading 'Munsir Al-Dawla bin Abdullah Al-Qu'aiti' together with the Hijri year 1307. The countermark is incuse-struck into the host coin's obverse field, attesting to the Sultanate's authorisation of the piece for local circulation.
