Obverse description The obverse displays three horizontal lines of bold Nasta'liq calligraphy filling the field, reading the royal legend attributing the coin to Emperor Muhammad Shah, styled as 'Sahib Qiran Sani' (Second Lord of the Auspicious Conjunction) and 'Badshah Ghazi'. The Hijri regnal year 1143 appears at the foot of the inscription. The lettering is rendered in high relief with characteristic Mughal calligraphic flourishes, and the field is bounded by a plain inner circle with a dotted or beaded border near the rim.

Reverse description The reverse presents three registers of bold Nasta'liq calligraphy occupying the entire field. The upper portion bears the epithet 'Dar al-Khilafa' (Seat of the Caliphate), followed by 'Zarb Shahjahanabad' (struck at Shahjahanabad), and the lower line records the regnal year expressed as 'Sana 13 Julus' (Year 13 of the reign). The inscription is deeply struck in high relief with sweeping calligraphic strokes typical of Mughal hammered coinage, enclosed within a beaded border running along the periphery.
