| Obverse description | The obverse features multiple horizontal registers of bold Nastaliq script filling the entire field, enclosed within a plain inner border and a raised outer bead border. The legends, struck in the name of the Mughal emperor Muhammad Akbar II, are arranged in three bands separated by horizontal lines. The inscription identifies the ruler with his imperial titles, following the established Mughal coinage formula. The overall design is characteristic of late Mughal-style rupees struck by Maratha-controlled princely states in the early nineteenth century. |
