正面描述 The obverse presents a purely epigraphic design in the Nasta'liq calligraphic style, set within a plain field enclosed by a scalloped inner border and a raised rim. The legend, arranged in four horizontal lines separated by ruled bars, reads the royal titles and regnal year of Nizam Mir Mahbub Ali Khan: 'Asaf Jah, Nizam ul-Mulk Bahadur' with the Hijri year 1312 at lower left and the numeral 92 at upper right. The overall arrangement reflects the traditional aniconic coinage conventions of Hyderabad State, with no figurative imagery.

附加信息

Mir Mahbub Ali Khan ruled Hyderabad as the sixth Nizam from 1869 until his death in 1911, and for much of that reign Hyderabad operated its own mint — the Farkhanda Bunyad, meaning "of auspicious foundation" — issuing coinage independent of British Indian standards. The .818 fineness used here was a deliberate local standard, slightly below the .917 of contemporaneous British Indian rupees, a difference that generated persistent friction with Calcutta over exchange rates and trade.

Mahbub Ali Khan was famously extravagant, reputedly owning the Jacob Diamond and maintaining a wardrobe so vast he refused to wear any garment twice.
