| Beschrijving voorzijde | Three-line Persian nastaliq legend divided by two horizontal ruled lines across the field. The upper register bears the name 'Alamgir' (عالمگیر), the central register the royal epithet 'Badshah Ghazi' (بادشاہ غازی), and the lower register the auspicious formula 'Sikka Mubarak' (سکہ مبارک). The inscription invokes the authority of Mughal Emperor Alamgir II, whose name was retained on Holkar issues as a mark of nominal imperial suzerainty. The coin is struck on an irregular planchet in the typical hammered style of 18th-century Indian rupees. |
