正面描述 Central field occupied by a multi-line Bengali inscription arranged in four horizontal registers, reading the royal name and titles of the issuing ruler Lakshmi Narayan together with the Shaka era date 1509 (corresponding to 1587 CE). The legends are rendered in Bengali script in a bold, deeply struck hammered style. The entire design is contained within a plain inner border and surrounded by a prominent outer beaded or dotted circle. The flat, unstruck field areas between the inscription lines are characteristic of the hammered coinage of the Koch dynasty of Cooch-Behar.

附加信息

Cooch-Behar's silver rupee coinage of this period emerged from the kingdom's tense position between Mughal expansion and the Koch dynasty's attempts to consolidate authority in northeastern Bengal. The 1587 date places this coin squarely within the reign of Lakshmi Narayan, who as a minor ruled under regency while Mughal forces under Akbar were actively pressuring the region's semi-autonomous rulers to submit or be absorbed.

The Lakshmi Narayan rupees of Cooch-Behar are notoriously difficult to attribute with precision — local die-cutting practices were inconsistent, and multiple emission periods have been proposed in the literature.
