Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck wearing the traditional Bhutanese raven crown adorned with intricate scroll and skull motifs, surmounted by a raven finial. A Tibetan legend curves around the upper periphery of the field, flanking the effigy on both sides. The dates 1926-1952, denoting the reign years of the commemorated ruler, appear in the lower exergue in Western numerals.

Reverse description Central device consisting of the Bhutanese national emblem — a Dorje Rinchen (thunder-bolt wheel), rendered as an ornate eight-spoked vajra wheel with elaborate flame and lotus petal detailing, enclosed within a plain raised circle. A Tibetan legend arcs across the upper field above the circle. The year of issue 1966 appears divided on either side of the central circle in the middle field, and the Latin inscription BHUTAN 1 RUPEE curves along the lower periphery.
