Obverse description Central device depicts the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, showing three lions passant guardant atop an abacus decorated with a Dharmachakra (wheel) flanked by a bull and a horse in relief. Beneath the capital, the national motto in Devanagari script reads 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs'). The denomination numeral '1' appears prominently in the lower field. The circular legend reads 'भारत' in Devanagari along the left arc and 'INDIA' in Latin along the right arc, with 'रुपया' and 'RUPEE' flanking the lower field.
