| Obverse description | Central device depicts a lion (Leo) passant to the left with one forepaw raised and tail curving upward, emblematic of the Zodiac series commissioned by Emperor Jahangir. A radiant rising sun rises from the lion's back along the upper field. The legend reads: 'Sikka zad bar sim Jahangir Shah bin Akbar Shah, sana 13' (Coin struck in silver by Jahangir Shah, son of Akbar Shah, Year 13). The inscription is framed by a beaded border consistent with Mughal hammered coinage of the period.
