| Obverse description | The obverse displays a bold two-line Persian couplet in flowing Nasta'liq calligraphy, rendered in high relief against a densely foliate field filled with scrolling floral and leaf motifs. The legend reads: 'Ruyi zar ra sakht nurani ba rang-i mihr-o mah / Shah Jahangir ibn Akbar Badshah,' proclaiming the radiance of the coin and the imperial titles of Emperor Jahangir, son of Akbar. The calligraphic strokes are vigorous and deeply struck, characteristic of early Jahangiri coinage. A beaded border encircles the design, framing the field on the coin's periphery. The overall composition exemplifies the refined artistic standards of Mughal hammered silver coinage. |
