Issued to mark the Third Islamic Summit Conference held in Lahore in February 1974, this coin was struck three years after the event itself — an unusually long lag that reflects the administrative turbulence following Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's government hosting what was then the largest gathering of Muslim heads of state in history. Over 37 nations attended, and the conference formally recognized Bangladesh, a decision with direct consequences for Pakistan's own recent civil war.
