Islam Shah Suri, second sultan of the Sur dynasty, died in 1554 after a reign spent consolidating the administrative machinery his father Sher Shah had built — including the rupee coinage system Sher Shah introduced around 1542. The Narnol mint, located in present-day Haryana, was one of several regional mints kept active under Sur administration to supply silver currency across the subcontinent's interior trade routes. Islam Shah's issues are notably scarcer than those of Sher Shah, partly because factional chaos following his death disrupted mint operations almost immediately. DR#1781 places this among the documented but infrequently encountered Narnol attributions.
