Obverse description The Ashoka Lion Capital, the national emblem of India, is depicted centrally in the field, showing three lions passant gardant atop an abacus bearing a Dharma Chakra (wheel) flanked by a bull and a horse in relief. Below the capital, the motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') is inscribed in Devanagari script. The country name appears along the left rim in Devanagari ('भारत') and along the right rim in Latin script ('INDIA'). The denomination '1' appears in large numerals at the bottom center, flanked by 'रूपया' to the left and 'RUPEE' to the right.
