The Bikram Sambat date 2007 (= 1950 AD) appears at the base of the design. A decorative beaded border surrounds the entire composition. |

Gyanendra's first reign lasted approximately three months in 1950, when he was installed as a child king after his father Tribhuvan fled to India seeking Indian government support against the Rana oligarchy that had effectively ruled Nepal for over a century. When Tribhuvan was restored to the throne later that year with Indian backing, Gyanendra was removed — making this issue a product of one of the shortest and most politically contested reigns in modern Nepalese history.
