正面描述 Four-line inscription in Assamese script occupying the central field, arranged horizontally across the octagonal flan. A bird depicted in a preening posture appears in the lower left of the field, accompanied by a plant stalk motif beside it. The legends are rendered in the characteristic bold, rounded strokes of the Assamese script tradition. The outer border is defined by the irregular octagonal edge of the hammered flan.

附加信息

Gadadhara Simha ruled Assam during one of its most militarily significant periods — his reign saw the definitive expulsion of the Mughals from the Brahmaputra Valley following the Battle of Itakhuli in 1682, ending nearly two decades of contested occupation. The coinage issued under his authority reflects a kingdom consolidating its independence rather than one minting under duress.

Ahom silver rupees of this type were struck to broadly match Mughal weight standards, a practical concession to regional trade that had nothing to do with political submission.
