Obverse description Central field features the denomination in Sinhala script (රැපියලයි) within an ornate floral wreath composed of lotus blossoms and foliage, with the date 1957 inscribed below in Arabic numerals. The legend ONE RUPEE runs vertically along the left rim, while Tamil script (ஒரு ரூபாய்) runs vertically along the right rim, both flanking the central motif.
