Obverse description The obverse is based on the standard Government of India One Rupee note, with a circular vignette at right containing a crowned portrait of King George VI in profile facing left, inscribed 'GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR' around the rim. The centre carries the large denomination text 'ONE RUPEE' over a fine guilloche underprint, with a red overprint reading 'BURMA CURRENCY BOARD LEGAL TENDER IN BURMA ONLY' applied diagonally across the face. A blank watermark panel occupies the left portion, with the inscription 'FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA' and a manuscript signature at lower right.

Reverse description The reverse retains the design of the Government of India One Rupee note, with a large circular coin vignette at left reproducing the reverse of the George VI rupee coin inscribed 'ONE RUPEE INDIA 1940' within an ornate floral and foliate border. Below the coin vignette appears a smaller numeral '1' above the words 'ONE RUPEE'. The denomination is repeated in multiple Indian scripts in a central panel, surrounded by an intricate lace-pattern guilloche border.
